Forest of Dean (Silver)

Expedition Code

FD17 - please quote this in all correspondence with the leaders.

About the Area

Beechenhurst Enclosure, Forest of Dean
The Forest of Dean consists of lovely woodlands and streams, which look particularly colourful in the autumn. The gorge of the River Wye winds through the middle of the forest, and looks terrific - but it also means you may do a fair amount of climbing up and down! You could well see peregrine falcons from Symonds Yat.

The trackbeds of disused railways and tramlines linking the old mines in the area now provide excellent walking and cycling routes through the forest. However, the areas of planted forestry provide an interesting navigational challenge as you have to know which ride you are following and where you are along it.
