Brecon Beacons (Gold)

Expedition Code

BB18 - please quote this in all correspondence with the leaders.

About the Area

Brecon Beacons
The Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales contains a number of distinct mountainous areas, from the wilderness area of the Carmarthen Black Mountain (Mynydd Ddu) in the west, through the highest peaks of the Beacons themselves south of the town of Brecon, to the steep-sided grassy moorland of the Black Mountains bordering the English border in the east.

Our expeditions will take place in the western part of the Brecons, beautiful but little-visited. The area you will be passing through has lakes and moraines left behind by the last ice age, an enormous network of caves, one of the few geoparks in Europe and many other features that give plenty of scope for those looking for a topic for their qualifying expedition – and plenty to see for those on a practice expedition.

Sunday 25th February 2018 - The deadline has passed and unfortunately, due to insufficient interest, the expedition has had to be cancelled.

The expedition went very well, with the participants enjoying an adventurous journey (not too adventurous though!), having to deal with various forms of challenging weather, and coming out of the process smiling!
